HammerKlavierOlaLola has as its inspiration, the first movement of Beethoven's monumental "Hammerklavier" Sonata, Op. 106, mixing in an early 1960s Rock and Roll flavor. Even though the work is a little over one minute long, I manage to squeeze in quotes from three themes and the coda. The work was originally commissioned as part of the Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame: Re-Imagining Beethoven project for pianist Stephen Porter.

HammerKlavierOlaLola was written originally for solo piano, but sounds great with any number of pianos playing the work simultaneously.

HammerKlavierOlaLola was included on an album that was released in 2026 on the Phasma Music label called “One Minute for Solo Instrument” or “1” for short.
